About EliSys

Elisys was established in early 2015 as a technology startup with expertise in advanced electronics engineering and computer science. Initial goals for the business were to develop disruptive IOT technology for the energy sector of commercial and industrial applications. The combined 20 years of experience in electronics design, automation and ubiquitous computing as well as significant previous work served as an excellent base for the development of such products.

Due to the economic climate throughout the world in 2015 and the odd emerging market of IOT was proven difficult to secure any significant funding for the development of the products. Elisys became a partner in consortiums with both academic and industrial focus for several EU funded projects that unfortunately failed to materialize. However during this time local opportunities for development emerged and the business model shifted towards customer oriented solutions and consulting for the electronics industry. Since 2016 Elisys focus has been the development of customer driven highly customized electronic control systems, complete life-cycle product development from inception to production, software and firmware development, functional safety assessments (IEC61508 etc), as well as small volume (10-500) production of electronic boards, including assembly, proofing and testing.

Over the last 5 years, we have chosen to have few customers with long term projects and focus on their specific needs rather than many customers with occasional minor projects, this allows us to build excellent partnerships and provide development continuation and support. Our customers industries have been of a diverse range and this provides us with unique experience in different development environments as well as vastly different requirements and needs.

Meet the team

Panagiotis Verras

EliSys Director and co-Founder

Panagiotis Verras is the chief architect orchestrating the design, development and production of the company’s products. He received a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with first class distinction from Heriot-Watt University in 2004 and an MSc in Embedded Systems in 2005 from the same university. Before starting Elisys, he gained over ten years of experience as an electronics design engineer specialising in data acquisition systems, embedded engineering, communications and other areas. He has worked for different industries including automotive, automation, oil and gas as well as consumer electronics and IT. During his work for PGS (a spin-off company from the University of Edinburgh in the oil and gas industry), was awarded the Hart’s Special Meritorious Awards for Engineering Innovation and also participated in, and holds a patent on, “Noise reduction systems and methods for a geophysical survey cable”.

Dr. Eliza Papadopoulou

EliSys Research & Development Manager and co-Founder

Eliza is involved in directing the research efforts of the company and responsible for establishing partnerships with other companies and academic institutions within the European community. She heads the software department at Elisys. After graduating with an honours B.Sc. in Computer Science from Heriot-Watt University in 2005, she became a research associate in the Pervasive, Ubiquitous & Mobile Applications Lab (PUMA) at Heriot-Watt University, while studying for her PhD and participated in three FP6 and FP7 EU projects (FP6 IST-DAIDALOS, FP7 ICT-PERSIST, FP7-ICT SOCIETIES). Her contributions to these projects were mainly in the areas of personalisation and privacy protection and personalised communication redirection. She completed her PhD on Personalised Privacy Protection for Pervasive and Ubiquitous Systems (PersoNIS) in 2015.

Georgios Roumeliotis

Intern - Embedded Systems Engineering

Georgios Roumeliotis is a graduate student of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Peloponnese. He has worked as a Unix/Linux System Administrator and has taught programming courses in secondary education. He is an active member of the robotics team at his alma mater, having won 1st place in WRO Hellas (ARC) twice and 9th Place in the World Robotics Olympiad in 2019 (ARC). The development of embedded systems fascinates him and it has now become his main area of occupation. He joined Elisys in 2021 as an intern, training in embedded systems engineering.
